Le Blanc

The town of Le Blanc, in the Indre department of central France, lies alongside the Creuse River in the tranquil countryside of the Val-de-Loire. Le Blanc has two markets each week which are in keeping with the very best of French traditions, the larger of which is held in the town centre on Saturdays, and the smaller market held every Wednesday. Le Blanc is an attractive town with wide streets, a remarkable variety of well-priced property, and has an all round well-kept feel to it.

Aside from its more traditional features, as characterised by the markets and the old buildings, the town has also moved with the times, and now displays a quite modern side to its personality. New buildings sit happily side by side with the old, with shops, bars, and restaurants bearing testimony to this. There is little that you need for a comfortable modern life that cannot be found in the town, with banks, schools, post offices, and similar facilities all available, along with a number of large supermarkets on the outskirts.

It is difficult to think of Le Blanc without picturing the huge and impressive brick built viaduct which reaches up in to the skies above the town. This carries the railway over the River Creuse, and some way below it the road bridge echoes the design. Below them both the river flows peacefully as it has for centuries, ensuring a most attractive scene, and one not to be missed!

Additionally the situation of Le Blanc lends itself well to a number of possibilities in terms of days out to explore central France. The town is close to the borders of the Limousin region, and also to Poitou-Charentes. For example it is a short one-hour drive to Poitiers where you can visit the incredible Futuroscope theme park (pictured right), or to take a trip south following the course of the Creuse River through the green and lush pasturelands of the Limousin.

A little nearer to Le Blanc you will also find plenty to occupy you, with a superb eighteen-hole golf course nearby at Roche Passay, along with the adjacent spa, and fitness centre for the ultimate indulgence.
